This aromatic salt is pure sea salt smoked on spruce and beech wood. The pure sea salt comes from the Mediterranean coast of southern Italy. The salt is then traditionally smoked in a small smokehouse near the Swabian Jura, in southwest Germany. The smoking process takes 6 to 7 days and lends the salt a delicious, powerful flavor.
Salt smoked on spruce is delicious with dishes with egg or mushrooms, stews and typical Swabian dishes such as lentils with dough balls and sausage.
