Mirin is an indispensable basic ingredient in Japanese cuisine. Its unique flavor profile makes it an essential component in the preparation of various dishes and it is considered one of the three basic flavors of Japanese cuisine.
Mirin is a spicy sauce based on fermented rice liquor. Mirin is aged in a complex fermentation process that takes into account the rhythm of the seasons. No alcohol is added during the production process, the natural fermentation ensures that our mirin contains alcohol.
Our mirin comes from the Japanese region of Mikawa, where the climatic conditions are ideal for the production and maturation of this special sweet rice sauce. We chose a traditional "hon mirin," a premium mirin with a lower residual sugar content and a slightly higher alcohol content (13.6%). Hon mirin is prized for its complex flavor and versatile uses.
Mirin is sweeter in flavor than rice vinegar, another popular Asian flavoring, but it also adds a subtle umami-rich touch to your dishes.
Like all our other products, our mirin is 100% natural. It contains only sweet rice, rice koji and water, with no added sugars and salt, which many other brands do. Moreover, the producer only uses rice from organic farming. Pure mirin, according to Japanese tradition.
Our mirin is perfect to use as a base for Japanese marinades and dips. The sauce pairs perfectly with soy sauce and other flavorings, such as teriyaki. Pour a spoonful over your steamed rice or with your stir-fried vegetables for a flavorful sensation.
