10% intensity
Our Guatemala Maragogype coffee beans are particularly large Arabica beans with a smooth, balanced flavour. Because of their exceptional size, these beans are known as elephant beans. Maragogype coffee beans have a mild, clear taste with a slight acidity and a pleasant sweetness. Maragogype coffee has an intense aroma and contains little caffeine by nature.
Medium-light roasting gives the coffee beans a balanced taste and a beautiful light brown colour. Medium-light roasted beans are less acidic than light roasted beans, but still retain a fresh, bright flavor.
Maragogype coffee beans were first discovered in the municipality of Maragogipe, in western Brazil. Today they are also grown in other places in Latin America. Due to low yields and a rather mild taste, farmers often choose more profitable and powerful coffee varieties. This makes the Maragogype bean very exclusive. Our beans come from Guatemala. The high altitude, the warm climate and the fertile soil ensure superior quality Maragogype coffee beans.
When processing many coffees, excessive roasting results in the formation of acrylamides, a substance that can be formed when starchy products are burned. Acrylamides are extremely unhealthy and harmful. Even the lover of strong coffee doesn't want this. We therefore categorically exclude the very strongest roasts with a high risk of acrylamides.
By allowing the fresh and very high-quality coffee beans to be roasted at a lower temperature and for somewhat longer, the delicious flavours and aromas come into their own. The slower, moderate roasting method ensures a healthy, high-quality coffee and allows our coffee roaster to perform tight acrylamide monitoring at each roast.
