Fleur de sel Algarve is a true exclusivity from the Algarve in South Portugal. Only when the weather conditions, the water temperature and salt balance are perfect, this salt can be harvested by hand. The natural white salt crystals are completely unprocessed and free of additives. This way fleur de sel Algarve or flôr de sal preserves its fine, subtle taste.
Under the hot Portugese sun, thin layers of salt appear on the water surface. These layers are harvested manually by experienced salt workers with a special butterfly-shaped squeegee, called borboleta in Portuguese. Next, the salt crystals are dried in the sun, without any further processing.
This salt is naturally slightly moist.
Fleur de sel Algarve gives dishes a mild, salty taste without being overpowering. Do not cook this salt, as it will loose its unique taste. Present on a small tray at the table, so that guests can sprinkle it to taste over crudities, potatoes, fish or grilled meat.
Not suitable for use in a salt mill.
Fleur de sel from the Algarve in Portugal. All-natural and without additives.
