Chicory Tea

Let 1 teaspoon (2g to 5g) of chicory root steep per cup for 5 minutes (or 20g to 30g per liter). Filter this decoction. Drink before meals.

Chicory root tastes quite bitter. You can add some dried mint or honey to improve the taste.

Chicory as a Coffee Substitute

Roasting Chicory to Use as a Coffee Substitute

Preheat the oven to 160°C.
Spread the chicory root on the baking sheet.
Roast in the oven for about 30 to 60 minutes. Stir the chicory pieces occasionally.
When the chicory has a deep dark brown color and emits a rich aroma, it is ready.
Use a grinder to make it into grounds. This releases the flavor better.
