These unprocessed grains are the small seeds of the amaranth plant. Amaranth has a mild and somewhat nutty taste. It is naturally gluten-free and very nutritious.
Amaranth, together with quinoa, were essential food sources for the Incas and Aztecs. Amaranth contains iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium. Amaranth also provides dietary fibres.
Use amaranth as an alternative for rice or quinoa. You can also make creamy amaranth porridge. Boil 1 part amaranth on 3 parts water for 10-15 minutes. The grains may be a bit sticky, but preserve their shape and bite. You can also make you own amaranth pop corn by popping the seeds in a closed pot on the fire.
Unprocessed amaranth seeds. Organic, 100% natural and without additives.
