These coffee beans from Nicaragua are 100% whole arabica coffee beans with a smooth, fresh taste. Coffee beans from Nicaragua are generally less bitter than beans from other countries in Central America. Our Nicaragua SHG 18+ coffee beans are mild and fruity with notes of citrus and flowers. They have a fine and delicate aroma.
Our coffee beans from Nicaragua are strictly high grown. This means that they are grown at more than 1200 meters above sea level. High-altitude coffee beans ripen more slowly and become larger and more concentrated than low-altitude coffee beans. This makes for a better quality cup of coffee.
To sort coffee beans by quality, they are passed through sieves of different sizes, among other things. Grades 18+ indicate large beans. In comparison, grade 20 are elephant beans: the largest type of coffee beans in the world. In general, the larger the coffee bean, the better the quality of the coffee.
Medium roasting the coffee beans gives them a balanced flavor and beautiful mid-brown color. Medium roasted coffee beans have an ideal flavor balance: not too sour but not bitter either.
