Falafel is a particularly staple dish in the Middle East and surrounding Arab countries. Like hummus, these flattened veggie balls have also become very popular with us, thanks to the books of top chef Ottolenghi.
Ready-made falafel balls from refrigerated shelves often contain "yeast extracts" - that's a fancy name for added flavorings.
You also often find thickeners, maltodextrin, lactose or egg powders in them. Moreover, this ready-to-eat product is in an energy-dense cold chain.
But there is an excellent alternative: in no time you can make your own falafel balls with our Pit&Pit mix. Just add water, knead and fry for a few minutes.
The Pit&Pit falafel mix contains no additives, such as preservatives, dyes, flavor enhancers, yeast extracts, anti-caking agents or added sugars.
It is also suitable for people with soy intolerance.
This falafel is a source of protein, is high in dietary fiber and contains only naturally occurring sugars.
To the chickpea flour and spelt flour we add the scents and flavors of the Middle East: parsley, garlic, chili, ginger, coriander, cinnamon, and, of course, cumin.
Pour the contents of the package into a bowl and add 230ml of hot water, Mix thoroughly and let the mixture stand for 15 minutes. Form flattened balls and fry for a few minutes on each side in an EL oil.
With a 140g package you can make 4 servings.
Chickpea flour (41%), thermally prepared SPELT flour (39%), dried onion, dried parsley, spices (salt, garlic, chili, ginger, coriander, cinnamon, cumin)
