Our pure red split lentils are shelled and split. Splitting naturally occurs when the outer shell of the lentils is removed. Red lentils are a very popular and widely-used type of lentils. They have the shortest cooking time of all lentils, and become soft and creamy when cooked. This makes them perfect for thickening of soups, puree and oven dishes. Or use them as the main ingredient for a delicious Indian dahl!
Red lentils are the most easily digestible of all lentils and contain a lot of proteins. This makes them a useful addition to a vegetarian or vegan diet.
Red lentils do not have to be soaked beforehand. Cook for 10 to 20 minutes. To preserve a more solid texture, cook them only for 10 minutes.
