Nigella is very typical of the cuisines of Southern Europe, the Middle East and India. These seeds taste like the slightly spicy version of oregano.
Nigella seeds are often sprinkled on flatbread and used with pulses, rice, salad, chicken and vegetables. They are also traditionally a ingredient in Indian curries.
Delicious with allspice, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander, cumin, fennel, fenugreek, pepper and turmeric.
Add nigella early to dishes or bread dough. Grinding is not necessary.
