Gyokuro tea is admired as the highest quality Japanese tea and is virtually unmatched. The tea leaves are intentionally left to grow in the shade for twenty days to increase the chlorophyll content and decrease the tannin content. Only the buds are picked, very carefully by hand, and only once a year.
Then the leaves are skillfully picked by hand. Immediately after picking, the leaves are steamed, dried and carefully rolled.
This Gyokuro tea has it all: umami in the aroma, a delicate salty touch, and in the aftertaste rich and sweet. The flavor is also sometimes reminiscent of gossamer pine needles. Gyokuro is harvested annually, in early spring. Its remarkable delicate flavor and aftertaste make it very popular among connoisseurs of green tea.
Organic Gyokuro Kyoto is produced in very limited quantities in the Kyoto district and made available for export only to a very limited extent. Tea sommeliers love it.
The fine even leaves have a deep green sheen. This tea is known high in antioxidants.
Our Japanese Sencha Gyokuro tea is organic, meaning it is grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers.
