Darjeeling tea is the only tea in the world that has been granted protection under the Geographical Indication (GI) trademark.
To be called Darjeeling, a tea must originate from plantations in the well-defined Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India. Just as champagne comes exclusively from well-defined vineyards and villages. Moreover, like champagne, Darjeeling is the cream of the crop in terms of quality.
Darjeeling is therefore without doubt one of the leading tea regions in the world.
The flavor of Darjeeling tea is highly dependent on the time of harvest. This second flush Darjeeling tea is harvested in June. Leaves picked during this second harvest in June yield an amber-colored, full cup.
As the intensity of the sun increases during the summer in the Himalayan highlands, so does the flavor of this black tea. Second flush darjeeling is therefore known as one of the most complex black teas the world produces.
The quality of loose tea is indicated by an abbreviation. Our Darjeeling Second Flush black tea is a FTGFOP tea: that stands for "Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe of the first quality.
This Darjeeling FTGFOP 2nd Flush is soft and full of flavor. A bit 'darker' than the 1st Flush, and with a mild bittersweet finish.
Our Black Tea India Darjeeling is organically grown, so we guarantee a healthy and carefree cup of tea, without traces of herbicides, fertilizers or chemical sprays.
This particular tea also contains no added flavors.
