Anise in the kitchen

Anise is often used in ouzo, raki, pastis and anisette. It gives flavour to bread, pastry, biscuits, fruits and ginger bread. Or spread fluffed-up eggwhite over cake and sprinkle with anise. Anise powder is used in curries, with fish, nuts, pumpkin and carrots.

Use

Anise combines well with allspice, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, fennel, garlic, nutmeg, pepper and star anise.
