Tamari soy sauce is a traditional Japanese seasoning. We also use the real Japanese version for the basis of this smoked tamari, with only water, soy beans and vinegar from organic cultivation, and smoke. A new, mild umami flavour is the result. The tamari soy sauce also contains no artificial flavours or other additives. Our smoked tamari sauce lifts veggie or vegan dishes, but also provides a kick when used with scampi or seafood.
Unlike traditional shoyu soy sauce, no wheat is added to this tamari sauce. Our tamari soy sauce is completely free of wheat and therefore gluten as well.Tamari is also a good alternative if you want to eat less salt. Just a few drops of tamari give it enough taste.
This organic tamari is unique because of its complex smoke flavor. We choose only hickory wood for smoking the basic tamari soy sauce. The hickory is a tree related to the walnut tree, and is famous for its qualities for smoking liquids. It is precisely this type of wood that gives this unique product its rich, complex flavour.
Smoked tamari sauce is a particularly versatile seasoning. It gives a delicious salty smoky flavour to marinades, dressings, dips, stews, soups, sushi and stir-fries. Fry cubes of tofu in some smoked tamari sauce and a pinch of turmeric for a golden brown crust.
