Ketjap manis: indispensable in Indonesian cuisine

Ketjap Manis is originally an Indonesian spice sauce that is rather syrupy in texture and gives your dishes a delicious sweet, spicy touch. It is the main seasoning in Indonesian and Malaysian cuisine and is often used there as a sweet substitute for soy sauce.

The sweet sauce goes well with almost any savory dish. Whether you are preparing noodles, or want to marinate ribs, soy sauce is the versatile kitchen friend.

Pure and organic

Most varieties of ketjap manis consist of as much as fifty percent sugar, derived from the palm sugar or jaggery added to soy sauce. Our producer chooses pure, high-quality rice syrup and molasses combined with tamari soy sauce, making the soy sauce not only completely gluten-free, but also free of refined sugars and suitable for a plant-based lifestyle. Moreover, the soy sauce contains only ingredients of organic origin.

Ketjap Manis in the kitchen

Ketjap is ideally suited for marinating your satays. Be sure to use the syrupy sauce as a marinade for chicken, meat or tofu as well, or finish your poké bowls with it. In addition, soy sauce does very well as a sweet dipping sauce for sushi, chicken wings or pieces of broccoli.

Tip: add chili peppers or fresh ginger to make a delicious spicy dip, perfect with your dumplings or bao buns.

Ketjap can develop a slightly bitter taste when heated, so add the soy sauce only at the end of the cooking time to fully enjoy the flavor.
